The West Kent Independent State School Partnership (WKISSP) is a partnership of eight secondary schools – Beechwood Sacred Heart School, The Judd School, Kent College Pembury, The Malling School, Mascalls Academy, Oakley School, The Skinners’ School and The Skinners’ Kent Academy. The partnership was set up with the aim of sharing resources and together, provide high aspirational learning opportunities for our pupils that we are just not able to offer on our own. The projects not only benefit pupils, but also enable teachers to extend their professional development, free from curriculum constraints.
On Saturday 15th June, Mascalls were proud to host the WKISSP inspirational masterclasses. This event followed on from the first WKISSP event which took place in May at The Judd School, where year 7 and 8 pupils and parents were given the opportunity to attend an evening lecture to mark the 500th anniversary of Leonardo Da Vinci. This theme continued for the masterclasses and pupils had the option of the following lessons; Anatomy and Art, Engineering and Ethics, Engineering and Textiles, Politics and Media and Italian. The day started with a short lecture from Deborah Sims from the University of Greenwich, before a day full of activities led by outstanding teachers from the WKISSP’s schools.
