School Direct is the new way of training teachers which puts schools at the heart of the process. It is a school based route into teaching for high quality graduates. Trainees will train in one of the schools within our partnership.
Mascalls Training Partnership offers salaried and training routes into teaching. We work in partnership with Kent and Medway Training (KMT) for all of our secondary places. Successful candidates on the training route will work towards a PGCE qualification. Successful candidates on the salaried route work towards QTS but may choose to also study for a PGCE qualification (this does incur a cost). We also offer a unique opportunity, in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), to train on a School Direct KS2-3 route. This route offers the opportunity to spend time in both primary and secondary schools. Successful candidates can opt to work towards QTS but may also choose to do a PGCE top up.
The school leaders have demonstrated their strong capacity to bring about sustained improvement through effective self-evaluation processes and this has been acknowledged by parents, carers and students. One parent referred to the school as a ‘shining light amongst local schools’.
Through engaging with businesses and further education college partners, the school is developing personalised pathways for vocational courses and apprenticeships, which are greatly valued by students.
Students overwhelmingly say that they feel safe in school and that any bullying, name-calling or teasing is immediately dealt with.
