July 2016 – We would like to remind Year 8 parents/carers that their child should return to school in September wearing the new school uniform. Year 11 will be the only year group wearing the old school uniform (available at Barsleys only). We also remind parents that skirt kilt lengths are to the knee (Year 11 skirts are no more than 4 inches above the knee) and students should wear black leather shoes – no canvas or trainers. Any donations of the old school uniform are very welcome and can handed in to Reception.
Put an end to the frustration of lost uniform and equipment
The loss of property and uniform is problematic for both parents and schools. We would like to remind all parents that it is a requirement of Mascalls to have all uniform clearly labelled.
To this end, we have recently joined the Find My Kit network. Parents can order Find My Kit Smart Tags which, as well as containing the owner’s name, also encompass an individual QR code linking to the parents’ email and mobile number. These come as iron-on labels and also as stickers useful for shoes and equipment. Details can be found here
The school leaders have demonstrated their strong capacity to bring about sustained improvement through effective self-evaluation processes and this has been acknowledged by parents, carers and students. One parent referred to the school as a ‘shining light amongst local schools’.
Through engaging with businesses and further education college partners, the school is developing personalised pathways for vocational courses and apprenticeships, which are greatly valued by students.
Students overwhelmingly say that they feel safe in school and that any bullying, name-calling or teasing is immediately dealt with.
