Mascalls Academy students and staff are again celebrating an impressive set of GCSE outcomes. We are extremely proud of the achievements recognised in these results and they reflect the hard work and resilience of staff and students in an increasingly demanding examination landscape. Congratulations in particular to Spanish (90% 9-4, 81% 9-5), French (100% 9-4), English (73% 9-4), maths (70% 9-4), drama (100% 9-4), dance 73% 9-4), business studies (76% A*-C) and sports science (77% 9-4).
Principal, Wayne Barnett, said “We are immensely proud of our students and what they have achieved. They have worked extremely hard for their results and have been supported brilliantly by a hard-working and dedicated staff. As a result of their achievements many of our students are able to go to further study and high level apprenticeships providing them with the basis to go on and be hugely successful. We are also delighted that so many of our students choose to stay at Mascalls to continue their studies. We wish all of our students well and congratulate each and every one”.
98 students took A Levels this year, with 95% achieving a pass; 12% an A*-A grade and 57% and A*-C grade. Many departments secured impressive results, including music (100% D*), textiles (75% A*-B), art 71% A*-B), drama 60% A*-B), media (60% A*-B) and film studies (57% A*-B).

Our curriculum provides a challenging academic and applied programme against an increasingly rigorous national assessment. Students are prepared well for this and, as a result, many students achieved fantastic grades and are going on top universities and high-level apprenticeships.
