Applications and payments for 16+ Travel Saver cards are made directly to Kent County Council. Applications for the 2019-20 academic year opened on 3rd June 2019.
It is recommended that you make an online application for the card, although it is possible to make a postal application – details of how to do this are given on KCC’s website.
Payments are made online at the time of application, using a credit or debit card. You can either pay the full amount up front, or split the cost over 8 monthly instalments between August 2019 and March 2020. A £10 administration fee is payable for instalment plans, which is added to the first monthly payment. You will also need a passport style photograph in electronic format to upload at the time of applying for the card.
To be sure that the Travel Saver will be ready for the start of term in September, KCC have specified that they need to receive applications by Sunday, 14th July 2019. The cards will be sent to Mascalls Academy so that they can be collected and signed for by students on the first day of term – or as soon as the card is ready, for applications made at other times of the year.
Applications made after 14th July may not be ready for students to collect on 2nd September, and will be subject to a processing time of up to 28 days at peak periods during the year. KCC do not refund fare costs incurred during this 28 day period.
Please note that 16+ Travel Savers can only be used on public bus services, and not on private hire routes.
