Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope this statement finds you and your families well. As if by magic the sun has finally arrived for half term and without a shadow of a doubt does our entire academy community deserve it.
It has been a wonderful term, our students have worked incredibly hard since their return and it has shown in every lesson and every piece of work. Attendance has continued to rise and now stands considerably above national averages, attendance has always been the first strategy in our response to the national contact. Through the support of parents and carers ensuring fantastic attendance our students are absolutely best placed to pick up where we left off and are showing significant signs of exceptional progress, so thank you.
Next half term marks the return to student movement around the site, a return to departmental areas and ultimately a more secondary experience. Staff and students alike are very excited to be more freely moving toward the specialist subject areas of the school and developing, this week we have been working in advisories to ensure that the one ways systems, buildings, blocks and movement around site have all been made very clear to the students. For a short time, we will still be asking for facemasks in that movement around the site as the students become accustomed, this will be reviewed in the first two weeks. This movement will certainly further enrich the curriculum opportunities for all of our students and we cannot wait to see just how much they can achieve as a result.
This week, after some of the most disrupted education in a generation we bode farewell to our Year 11 and 13 students. Some are going onto pastures new, many are returning to our sixth form and other move onto employment or university. We wish them all the very best of luck as they await their results on the 10th (Year 13) and 12th (Year 11) of August. We are incredibly proud of the resilience, determination and overall strength of character shown by our students in such challenging times. We will watch their careers and progress with interest as they carry the Mascalls mantle with them wherever they go. Good luck.
Finally, as always, my thanks go to the parents and carers for your ongoing support and forging a new partnership with the academy. Working more closely and more positively together than ever before will only ever benefit our amazing young people as they work to achieve excellence in all that they do. In the meantime, have a safe, happy and relaxing half term break.
Yours sincerely,
Mr W Monk
Principal
