Road Safety Experience visit for Year 12 students

On the 18th November Miss Couch and Mr Burton took a group of Year 12 students to visit the Road Safety Experience Centre in Rochester, which is run by Kent Fire and Rescue Service.  It is the only purpose-built facility in the UK for educating young people about the potential causes and consequences of road traffic accidents – whether they are a driver, or a passenger in a vehicle being driven by a young person.

The Centre is highly interactive, combining film, live re-enactment, group work and the use of technology to measure response times and simulate different physical conditions.  It is informative, at times hard-hitting, but also enjoyable and interesting.  The students who attended got a lot out of the day, and overwhelmingly fed back that they thought everyone of their age group would benefit from a visit, whether or not they are intending to learn to drive.
